Old Market Hall

Using archive contemporary footage and audio, Asunder tells the story of what happened to the Tyneside and Wearside during the First World War. With almost all its men fighting abroad, and its women and children left behind, people from the town uncover what life was like on the home front, with bombs falling on Britain for the first time, and women working as doctors and footballers.
