This summer, you can enjoy three world class opera productions from the The Glyndebourne Festival on the big screen at the Old Market Hall.

Puccini's MADAMA BUTTERFLY will be screened live on Thursday 21 June. A classic love story that never fails to move, MADAMA BUTTERFLY is a tragic romance that sweeps you along in the intensity of its action. Puccini's seductive score blends authentic Japanese music with luscious European harmonies and orchestration, the opera is an irresistible fusion of East and West.

Enjoy another chance to see Handel's SAUL on Thursday 26 July, with a special live recording from Glyndebourne 2015. Handel's vision of a Lear-like king is astonishing in its psychological complexity, offering a musical portrait of mental collapse few have since matched.

The season of live screenings is completed by Samuel Barber's VANESSA on Tuesday 14 August. A rare opportunity to see Barber’s Pulitzer Prize-winning work – opera from the age of Hitchcock, with an atmospheric score and tense, psychological twists.
