LIVE PERFORMANCE AT THE OLD MARKET HALL
STRANGE MEETINGS documents the final fifteen months in the life of poet and soldier Wilfred Owen.
Written and performed by Shaun Higgins, this one-man play follows Owen's admission to Craiglockhart Hospital with shell-shock, his auspicious meeting with Siegried Sassoon, the resulting flourish of poetry, his return to France, and his fatal battle in November 1918.
Drawing on Owen's letters alongside biographical accounts, revealing his thoughts and inspirations, this dramatic presentation brings to life the story of a troubled soul, is alive with language and wry humour, and shows us Owen as the complicated and misunderstood person he was. Followed by an informal audience Q&A.
